6 November – Shobha Yatra Day
The festival opens with the Shobha Yatra – a grand procession starting at Saket College and ending at Ram Katha Park. How to Reach Ayodhya for Deepotsav 2026
Critical transport rule for 7 November 2026: All private vehicles (cars, taxis, buses) are stopped at the outer ring road checkpoints starting at 6:00 AM on the main event day. The checkpoints are at the NH-27 bypass and surrounding roads. After 6:00 AM, movement into Ayodhya Dham is only by foot or official e-shuttles (free government service from outer checkpoints to the central area).
The correct approach: Arrive in Ayodhya on 5 or 6 November and stay overnight. Do not attempt to arrive by private vehicle on 7 November morning.

Ground Truth – What Nobody Tells You About Attending Deepotsav
1. The security cordon at 3:00 PM on 7 November is absolute – anyone arriving after 3:00 PM cannot enter the central ghat zone. Most online guides say “arrive early.” None specify that movement into the Ram Ki Paidi zone is physically blocked by police cordon from 3:00 PM. 2. The outer ring road vehicle closure at 6:00 AM on 7 November is the most consistently underestimated constraint. Every year, thousands of pilgrims driving from Lucknow, Gorakhpur or Varanasi plan a “morning arrival” on 7 November and find their vehicle stopped at the NH-27 bypass at 6:00 AM – 8-12 km from Ram Ki Paidi. They then walk or wait for e-shuttles, arriving at the ghat at 10-11 AM when all practical activities have begun. The solution is to arrive in Ayodhya on 5 or 6 November.
